HINOKI by COMME des GARÇONS – A serene woody fragrance inspired by a Japanese bath ritual.
HINOKI draws inspiration from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in a wooden tub at Tawaraya in Kyoto. It captures the memory of damp moss and trees outdoors, contrasted with the sharp, dry facets of the boxy hinoki bath. The result is calm, aromatic and deeply grounding.
Cypress and pine open with a fresh green clarity, lifted by notes of turpentine and camphor for a cool, resinous edge. Cedar and Georgywood provide structure, while thyme and incense add depth. Treemoss and vetiver create an earthy, tranquil base that lingers softly on the skin.
